The Mattydale Fire Department would like to send our condolences to the Binghamton Fire Department, and to the family of Firefighter John Gaudet, as well as wishing a speedy recovery to the injured firefighters.

"On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, firefighters from the Binghamton Fire Department responded to the scene of a multi-alarm commercial structure fire. While fighting the fire, a wall collapsed. A short time later a mayday was declared and Firefighter John “JR” R. Gaudet was rescued from the debris. Two other firefighters were also injured at the scene. All three were immediately transported to the UHS Wilson Medical Center where Firefighter Gaudet was pronounced deceased. The two other firefighters were treated and released." - FEMA.gov
