EFFECTIVE MAY 1ST 2024

The Mattydale Fire Department with the approval of the Salina Consolidated Fire District No. 2 (Board of Fire Commissioners) have approved a much anticipated by-law change (Article 11 Membership), allowing new members from outside of the Fire District to become members of the Mattydale Fire Department.

What this means? If you are a resident of New York State, you may apply for membership regardless of where in NYS you live. Out of district members will be held to the same requirements as all other members.

REQUIREMENTS:

- NYS Resident
- 18+ Years of age
- 16 Hours duty time per month
- Completion of BEFO/IFO (Firefighting Members), or EMT Certification (EMS Members)
- Drill and Meeting Attendance

BENEFITS:

- All training and equipment is paid for by the Department and BOFC (Board of Fire Commissioners), there is NO cost to you.

- The BOFC offers a retirement incentive after 20 years of service, with 5 years vested.

- NYS offers a yearly $200 tax credit, along with stipends for completing certain NYS certifications.

- Tax Credits for property owners (Must have property in the Town of Salina)

- Weight Room, No need for a Gym Membership. Our weight room has several types of weights and machines available for our members to stay in shape!
